What Is This Place?
The internet is packed with weird, useless, yet oddly captivating mini-websites. Bored Portal was created to gather all these hidden internet gems scattered across the web.
With a single click, you’ll get teleported to a completely random spot online. You might discover a hidden gem, or you might find it totally useless—that’s the beauty of the unknown! Every single site listed here is handpicked, submitted, and moderated by our community.
We don't do practical tools, tutorials, or productivity hacks. We’re here purely for fun and curiosity. If you ever stumble upon a website that makes you think, "How did this wild idea even become a website?!", send it our way and help us turn boredom into pure entertainment!
How to Submit & Get Listed
Want to add your favorite weird websites to the portal? It’s super simple—just 4 easy steps:
- Log In: Sign in with your Google account to join the community.
- Submit: Head over to "My Sites - Submit Website" and fill in the website name, URL, and a short description.
- Get Votes: Once submitted, your link enters the "Launchpad." Anyone can upvote your link (no login required!). Sites without traction rarely get approved, so share your link with friends to get those upvotes rolling!
- Get Listed: We review the Launchpad regularly based on community upvotes and content quality. Once approved, your website goes live in our random pool for online explorers to discover!
- You can have up to 10 active submissions at a time.
- Each user can upvote the same site up to 1 times. The more upvotes, the higher the chance of being listed.
- Duplicate submissions (sites already listed or currently in review) will be removed.
How the Teleportation Algorithm Works
We use a Weight System to determine how likely a website is to show up in the random rotation: higher weight = higher discovery chance. Weight is calculated based on upvotes and community reviews, influenced by the following rules:
- Upvotes are Key: The more upvotes a site receives, the higher its base weight.
- Reviews Boost Weight: Every approved review counts as 5 upvotes: Effective Votes = Upvotes + (Reviews * 5).
- Tiered Weight Scaling: Effective votes are scaled in tiers—higher tiers require more votes to bump the weight up:
- 0 ~ 200 Effective Votes → Weight: 1 ~ 4
- 200 ~ 2,000 Effective Votes → Weight: 4 ~ 6.5
- 2,000 ~ 20,000 Effective Votes → Weight: 6.5 ~ 8.5
- 20,000 ~ ∞ Effective Votes → Weight: 8.5 ~ 10
- Weight Cap: Maximum weight caps out just under 10.
- New Arrival Boost: Newly listed sites get a 30-day Cold Start Protection. During this period, they receive up to +3 temporary extra weight (decaying over time) so new sites can get immediate visibility!
TL;DR: Upvote and leave honest reviews to help the best hidden gems get discovered!
